Gisborne Marshlands & Magnet Hill – November 8, 2026 1:00pm

This month we are visiting two adjacent but very different environments. The marshlands are interesting in that there are many plants that only grow in wet environments. It also is a great place to observe birds that like to live close to water. We last visited Gisborne Marshlands in November 2024 so it will be interesting to see if there have been any changes.
Across the road to the east of the wetlands is Magnet Hill. This public reserve is not regularly visited, so we are keen to discover what we may find. It is the home to the elusive Cunninghams Skink as well as other wildlife. Also the geology of the site is interesting as the rocks are supposed to exhibit magnetic properties.
